The lovely Kate Childs wrote an article called “Inside Family Records: The Music Man“, for which she interviewed me. It took me a few hours to forgive her for calling me a ‘thirty-something’ (technically correct since I’m 30, but emotionally disturbing). Since the Supermelon is a style and fashion oriented site I for once got to speak on something aside from music! Excerpt below, full article here.

While his daily routine might not be predictable, his go-to look for work is. In the five years since Wes moved to New York, his style has evolved into a tailored uniform that reads business not boring; urban but with a European sensibility. Button-down oxford shirts, skinny ties with a tie bar, and fitted jeans are standard form for Wes. He avoids the quirky yet ubiquitous pairing of Converse sneakers with business wear in favor of the traditional—he sticks to brown or black leather shoes for a polished look. “For the most part, I aspire to pursue a timeless look, with hints of the modern age in terms of cut,” explained Wes. “On a style level, I admire guys like Robert Redford, Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, Robert Downey Jr., and Daniel Craig.”

  • The Bloodsugars: Currently in the studio with producer Bill Moriarty (Man Man, Dr. Dog) working on their follow up album to the ‘BQEP’. These new songs are such a spectacular step up from their previous material. Can’t wait to share!
  • Lowry: Currently on tour in the southern part of the USA and preparing to start recording their new album executive produced by ERR co-owner Mark Christensen and engineered/produced by Drew Fisher.
  • Porter Block: I’ve written about their upcoming record The Gowanus Yacht Club many times already. Be on the look out for a who’s who of the LES Scene to make appearances and a run of 10 shows starting in June.
  • Other News: 1. It’s official! Chris Hacker, previously the Director of Tours and Promotions has been made General Manager of Engine Room Recordings. I myself am now the Head of Strategy and A&R. 2. Two new signings will be announced in the next few weeks! 3. A spectacular new website is coming courtesy of Mr. Jeff Schram.
