On The Importance Of Storytelling
(Or Gary’s Take On Things)

Gary Vaynerchuk’s views have certainly helped shaped how we look at customer service and the importance of story telling at both Family Records and GNTLMN.com. Here’s a great recent interview that serves as a perfect nutshell summary. Grab some of his books if you want to dive in deeper (links in the Recommended Reading section of this blog).

“the reason why people are missing why things succeed is because of story telling” I think this is so true. For those of us in music, it’s not (just) the story IN the music, but the story around it, the story around the performer. Tell a good story, that people want or need to hear (and tell it well) and listeners will be drawn in. If you tell it really well you actually end up telling the listener’s own story. In my view, storytelling is almost the whole deal.
