The Family Records Singles Club

What: We release a series of digital singles, each single by a different artist. The artwork for each of these singles is such that it is very clear that it’s part of a series, which connects fans that discover one of the song back to the rest of the series. The commonality between these individual singles is that:

  1. They’re amazing songs that showcase amazing writing.
  2. They fit within the Family sound and aesthetic
  3. They would work in the world of music synch placements, giving our team the opportunity to place them in tv/film/commercials

How: Family exclusively licenses the song from the artist, and we splits income 50/50. The artist retains master ownership of the song as well as publishing rights. Artists are able to re-record the song and do whatever they please with any other version, including having it be part of another non-Family release.

Goals:

For the fans:
They get music they love, in a consistent frequent manner they can expect and look forward to, and from a trusted source that they have bought music from before.

For the artist:

  • The song gets distributed to a network of fans that are eagerly awaiting it, expanding the artists’ audience. It will be made available across all digital platforms (iTunes, Family Store, eMusic, etc.)
  • The song sees a professional release including marketing and branding, kickstarting or increasing momentum for their recording career.
  • The song becomes part of a catalog of respected and popular music.
  • The song is pitched to all major music supervisors by an experienced team that has been very successful in the past years with many songs on TV, an Apple ad, and several commercials.
  • You start a working relationship with Family, which if it is of interest to both parties could be expanded at a later date.

For Family:

  • We get to expand our catalog with incredible music.
  • We are able to cater to our fans and bring them more music by a more varied source of artists
  • We can utilize our existing infrastructure and network to help more artists get their music out, and keep our pipes filled with more music.
  • We love working with new young artists early on and be part of the first steps towards success.
  • We usually only get to work with a small amount of artists at the same time, when it comes to full albums, due to the time and investments required, and this helps us expand on that.
